Part of our guide to Google Reviews for Garages

Asking in person

"If you are happy with the work today, a quick Google review really helps other drivers find us. I can text you the link if that is easier." Short, direct, and easy to decline without awkwardness. More tactics in how to get more Google reviews.

SMS and email ask templates

  • Thanks for visiting [Garage Name] today. If you have a moment, a Google review helps local drivers find us: [direct review link]
  • Hi [Name], your MOT is done and dusted. We would really appreciate a Google review if you were happy with the service: [link]
  • Hope the car is running well. A quick Google review means a lot to a small independent garage: [link]

Send 1–2 hours after collection, not while they are still on site. See review request timing for why.

Reply templates — positive

  • Thanks, [Name] — really pleased we could sort the brakes quickly. See you next time.
  • Appreciate you taking the time, [Name]. Glad the service went well — we will see you for the MOT.

Reply templates — negative

  • Sorry to hear this, [Name]. That is not the experience we aim for. Please call us on [number] so we can look into it properly.
  • Thank you for the feedback. We would like to understand what happened — please contact [name] on [number] and we will make it right.

Adapt these for responding to positive reviews and responding to negative reviews. AskMike Review Assistant sends the ask automatically; you keep templates for replies.

Frequently asked questions

Can I send the same review request to every customer?
Yes for the ask message — consistency helps your team. Personalise public replies to each review so they do not look copy-pasted.
Should review requests mention Google specifically?
Yes. Saying 'leave us a Google review' is clearer than 'leave feedback' and takes customers to the platform that matters for local search.
